Who Qualifies
HBK Incubates seeks motivated entrepreneurs with great food businesses. These entrepreneurs have a strong product concept, sound business plan, and a clear idea of what it takes to produce, sell and market their product. With access to a commercial kitchen and additional business development support in our incubation program, these entrepreneurs can grow a sustainable business.
A good food business has the following elements:
- Unique product that is not highly represented in the market
- Small but strong product line or menu
- Good knowledge of market for their product
- Buyers
- Readiness to start producing commercially and selling within a couple of weeks of entering the program
In alignment with the mission of Hot Bread Kitchen, the HBK Incubates program prioritizes women, minority, or immigrant entrepreneurs from the Harlem community. However, HBK Incubates is an active participant in the economic revitalization of New York City and all food entrepreneurs with viable business ideas are encouraged to apply.
