
Chief Strategy and Advancement Officer
KRISTINE BOROK (she/her) is a seasoned nonprofit leader with a culinary background. She oversees development, brand, and organizational strategy as Hot Bread Kitchen’s first Chief Strategy & Advancement Officer. She joined the organization in 2019 as Head of Brand & Development, where she surpassed fundraising goals and elevated Hot Bread Kitchen’s reputation as a thought leader in equity and quality jobs in the food sector. In 2022, Kristine became the organization’s founding Chief Operating Officer, establishing its first People & Operations team and leading the development of its flagship facility at Chelsea Market.
Before joining Hot Bread Kitchen, Kristine led development programs at the American Museum of Natural History, Children’s Health Fund, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
As a former baker and chef in New York City’s food industry, Kristine brings a unique perspective on the need to advance a more equitable food system. She completed her chef’s training at the Natural Gourmet Institute and worked in some of New York City’s most popular restaurants and bakeries, including the Landmarc Restaurant Group, Jean-Georges’ Mercer Kitchen, and Levain Bakery. She has also served as a guest chef instructor in the Institute of Culinary Education’s recreation program.
Kristine holds a Master of Arts in Women’s Studies from the University at Albany. She serves on the board of the Bread Bakers Guild of America and is a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier New York. In 2024, she was named to City & State’s 40 in their 40’s list, recognizing the most influential and thought-provoking leaders in New York City.
On weekends, she enjoys making waffles for her kids, gardening and creating ceramics.
