
Chief Strategy and Advancement Officer
A seasoned nonprofit leader with a background as a chef, Kristine Borok oversees development, brand, and organizational strategy as Hot Bread Kitchen’s first Chief Strategy & Advancement Officer. She joined the organization in 2019 as Head of Brand & Development, where she surpassed fundraising goals and elevated Hot Bread Kitchen’s reputation as a thought leader in women’s economic equity and quality jobs in the food sector. In 2022, Kristine became the organization’s founding Chief Operating Officer, establishing its first People & Operations team and leading the development of its facility at Chelsea Market.
Before joining Hot Bread Kitchen, Kristine led development programs at the American Museum of Natural History, Children’s Health Fund, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
As a former baker and chef in New York City’s food industry, Kristine has a unique perspective on the need to create a more equitable food industry. She completed her chef’s training at the Natural Gourmet Institute and worked in some of New York City’s most popular restaurants and bakeries, including the Landmarc Restaurant Group, Jean-Georges’ Mercer Kitchen, and Levain Bakery. She has also served as a guest chef instructor in the Institute of Culinary Education’s recreation program.
Kristine holds a Master of Arts in Women’s Studies from the University at Albany. On weekends, she enjoys making waffles for her kids and gardening.
