Hot Bread Kitchen is thrilled to announce the relaunch of our signature culinary training program from a brand new home–and with a brand new leader for the organization!
In January, Hot Bread Kitchen officially relocated to the iconic Chelsea Market, where we are being generously hosted by our longtime partners at Google. Hot Bread Kitchen’s new headquarters features a state-of-the-art kitchen with 18 stations for cooking and learning along with staff offices. We believe our Chelsea Market HQ will be a vibrant hub of learning, connection, and growth for our growing network of breadwinners, beginning with the 17 women joining us today in our first cohort of 2022.
Our move downtown coincides with the appointment of a new CEO, Leslie Abbey, who will oversee Hot Bread Kitchen’s bold strategic plan to become 1,000 breadwinners strong by 2024. An experienced organizational leader who has dedicated her career to supporting women and families, Leslie comes to Hot Bread Kitchen from Covenant House New York, the City’s largest organization serving youth experiencing homelessness, where she served as Deputy Executive Director & COO.
“Hot Bread Kitchen’s strategic plan to support 1,000 immigrant women and women of color across NYC centers on collaboration. It is because of partners like Google and Chelsea Market, as well as our many community-based partners throughout the city, that we are well-poised to achieve our exciting, ambitious goals over the next three years.”
-Leslie Abbey, Hot Bread Kitchen CEO
In addition to operating bridge programs and job skills training from our new headquarters, Hot Bread Kitchen plans to launch satellite programs in community kitchens throughout the five boroughs as part of our strategic plan, meeting members where they are and increasing access to an array of supportive services.
