The Management Training Institute aims to upskill frontline workers with the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in management roles in the foodservice industry. This course focuses on developing foundational administrative and technical skills and high-level leadership skills to propel new foodservice managers into the first step of their careers, while adding value for their employers and the teams they lead. Note: In order to participate in this program, participants must be nominated by their employer. The application must be completed by the employer.
Program Goals:
- Empower program participants to achieve immediate and long-term career and economic mobility
- Support job quality for teams within participating businesses by resourcing up-and-coming managers and equipping them with tools to implement job quality systems
Participants receive weekly $100 stipends for 8 weeks

Program Requirements
For Employers:
- Partnering businesses must be located within NYC’s 5 boroughs.
- Partnering businesses must commit to giving program participants a promotion and/or pay raise within 90 days after completing the 8 week training, OR submit proof that the participant has received a promotion within the past 6 months prior to program beginning.
- Partnering businesses are required to donate 2 hours of teaching time OR breakfast or lunch for 2 class days.
For Participants:
- Program participants are required to attend class every Monday from 9:30am to 5pm for the duration of the program (8 weeks).
- Program participants are required to attend a monthly 1-hour group coaching session for 1 year after graduating.
- Program participants are required to complete homework assignments
- Program participants as well as a representative from their place of work are required to provide data and complete surveys before, during, and for one year after program completion.

Who can apply?

How many employees can a employer nominate for the program?
Employers are allowed to nominate up to 2 employees per cohort.
What is the interview process like?
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, with 30 minute interviews being conducted via Zoom to confirm eligibility.

Are the programs virtual or in-person?
Trainings are held in-person at our Manhattan kitchen facility (Chelsea Market) or Pier 57.
