At Hot Bread Kitchen, honoring immigrant heritage is baked into our daily work: the multi-ethnic breads our Bakers in Training learn to make are inspired by the countries the women come from. Our staff, Bakers in Training, entrepreneurs, and even our founder all came to this country and found a sense of purpose and inclusion in our culinary community.
This year, during Immigrant Heritage Month, it feels especially crucial to highlight the important role played by immigrant communities in the U.S., and to pay homage to the diversity and depth of flavor that arises from coming together at a common table.
Donations of $100 or more made during the month of June will be matched by RadicalMindset.org, who will also send you a 100% organic cotton “I Am an Immigrant” t-shirt as acknowledgment of your gift at that level.
Your gift allows us to train more women from around the world in careers as bakers, and support immigrant entrepreneurs as they share their culinary heritage with New Yorkers.
The shirts are sourced sustainably and produced in the U.S. by people who are paid a fair living wage. Shirts will be shipped out within 6-8 weeks. Please include your contact information when making a donation so that Hot Bread Kitchen’s staff can reach out to inquire about your shirt size and t-shirt language preference (English or Spanish). Donations will be matched up to $2,000 total within the month of June.
